Mary is the sixth child born to Mary and Reinhart Schick. Alex is the eldest child of Mary and Christoph May which immigrated to Sugar City, Colorado from Russia in the early 1900's.
Mary and Alex settled in Burstall after their marriage and besides farming a quarter-section of land, Alex became the owner of the first local barber shop. Mary was a seamstress and the local women were proud to wear the garments she made, which she ingeniously created without patterns.
After many years of barbering Alex bought the Ehnisz Garage which included Esso Bulk gas Sales as well as a car and machinery dealership. Alex and Mary retired to Medicine Hat where they lived out their years.
Mary and Alex had three children.
