George is the second son born to Heinrich and O'Tillie Brunner. Gladys is the only daughter born to David and Wilhelmina Tetz. Gladys is a niece of John Braunberger who was O'Tillie's second husband making George's half-sister and Gladys cousins.
George served overseas during WWII and also served in Korea. He was taken as a prisoner of war in Korea after being wounded by shrapnel. He spent time in a prisoner of war camp having to labour in rice paddies until his release in early 1952. After recovering from the endeavour in a military hospital in Japan he returned to Canada and met Gladys. They were married in Calgary.
George had his own gravel truck and later operated a roofing company and a siding company out of Calgary. Later they moved the siding company to Vancouver where George built a fishing boat to explore and fish the nearby ocean.
They also spent a few years in Kelowna B.C. and built their dream home at Anglemount ABC dragging the boat behind. The boat didn't make it to water very often at that point and George and Gladys devoted their time to the garden where George's pride was his grapes.
Later in his years George suffered for emphysema and heart trouble and with Gladys pushing to be closer to her grand children they moved back to Alberta and bought a house at Acme. Gladys loved to prepare meals and would get angry if you stoped to visit without letting her know you were coming ahead of time. No mater what time of the day you arrived, she would have the table decked out with more food then you could imagine eating.
In 2002 George's health deteriorated and he passed away at the Three Hills Hospital. Gladys continued to reside in Acme and spent as much of her free time with the grand children as she could. Nothing could of made her happier in those remaining years. At her passing in 2005 she was survived by her only son, three grand children and seven great grand children.
