The Pearn Family - Search History -

Taking a New Direction.......

The search for the Pearn's has become very difficult so I have decided that with other branches that still needed to be searched it was time to move on. James Pearn married Myrtle Sophia Gale so it was easy to decide to start the next search on the Gales. Of course dad knew who his Grandfather was, Sidney Gale, so the search begins. I searched the British 1881 census and found one Sidney Gale, below is the results of the find and further searches:

Henry J. Gale was born in 1847 in Marlbro, Wiltshire, England. He married Annie ? in 1875.

Annie ? was born in 1856 in Guisbro, York, England.

They had the following children:

F i Mary J. Gale was born in 1875 in Guisbro, York, England.

M ii Richard O. Gale was born in 1876 in Guisbro, York, England.

M iii Sidney Herbert Gale was born in 1879 in Guisbro, York, England. He died in 1964 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He married Mary Sophie Little.

With not much more to go on I forwarded this information to my resource in England and requested a search for the birth certificates and marriage certificate. About a week later I got a reply that the certificate for Sidney had different parents then the other children. I requested a search to be done on the parents listed.

That weekend dad and I went to Caroline, where I have a cousin, to go golfing and talk about the family history. The information Mary Ellen has is a gold mine. I was surprised to see she had Sidney's birth certificate. I gathered as much information I could from her collection of old papers in the time we had. I will return to document those items and others.

The first thing I did when I got home was send an email to cancel all the searches I could but I was to late. I then started the search over with the new information. The birth certificate provided me with the names of his parents. Searching on Amelia Gale I found the family right away in the 1881 census but I could not find them listed in any other census. So, at this point I found the father Thomas Gale, the mother Amelia Collings and 7 children.

Now with the new information I placed another order for the marriage certificate of Thomas Gale and Amelia Collings. Eventually I may need to order their birth certificates.
