Back to the Homesteads.......

With not much to go on I decided I would order the Homestead records of the families in Alberta. It took almost a month to get my copies but I now have them. It is very obvious that they are photo copies taken from micro fiche. Some are so faded I needed to use a magnifying glass to try to make out the writing.

So for $20.00 per title search what do you get. From what I can tell, first a person made an application for Entry. This includes the full name of the applicant, date and place of the application, age, place of birth and last residence of each person that will be living on the homestead. The next process is applying for the Land Patent. It appears this was done anytime after 20 acres have been cleared and cropped. Reports from 2 different witnesses along with the application had to be filed. The information on all these forms were much the same. Finally the land patent would be granted. This includes any and everyone who applied for entry.

I have typed out the information that was filled in to the best of my ability into 4 separate documents, one for each homestead. Text in blue is that which the applicant had written. ? are in place where I could not decipher the text. Here are the links for each homestead.
