California here we come.......
The summer of 2004 dad and I decided to take a trip to the USA to visit the Kullgrens in California. The trip included a stop off at Salt Lake City to research the family at the LDS library. The assistants there did their best to help and with the limited information I had at the time we could not find any additional information in the allotted timeframe.
Once in California, we contacted the Kullgrens so they would be aware of our presence. Our first stop was the Atascadero Cemetery to visit the grave of William Kullgren. After getting directions from the office we found the grave has no head stones and strangely enough, William shares the plot with both of his wives.
The visits we had with the Kullgrens, although were friendly enough, were always kept short. We would wait all day for them to contact us for a visit and then suddenly they would show up at our motel, spend a hour or two chatting then they would leave. On one of these visits they brought one of their sons and I provided them with a copy of all the data I had collected to date. Finally we decided we had enough of the waiting game and mentioned we were going to the Paso Robles Cemetery the next morning and then our way back home. They asked us to call first and they would meet us there. Well, it didn't take long to snap a few pictures of Fred and Maud graves and we had that done before anyone showed up. Shortly thereafter the Kullgrens arrived and the chat continued as if to be stalling us, and for a reason. 2 sons and a grandson also arrived to meet us. They were very interested in the research I was doing and we exchanged email addresses. The grandson took this picture of the group.
Before the trip I emailed the first son, a month later I tried again. I received one reply but no information was exchanged. After the trip I emailed the other son, who was very interested in the research, never got a reply. Later in searching the Kullgren name I found yet another email address. After establishing the fact I was a relative, the email replies stopped. I have yet to understand why.
